IHG expands UK footprint with four new voco and Garner hotels
IHG Hotels & Resorts has agreed four new hotel projects with Fairview Hotels across England, adding more than 380 rooms to its UK and Ireland pipeline. The deals strengthen IHG’s premium and midscale presence in its largest European market.
IHG Hotels & Resorts is accelerating its UK growth with four signings and openings across its voco and Garner brands. The projects, agreed with Fairview Hotels, include voco London – Bloomsbury as well as new Garner hotels in Lincoln, Rotherham East and Chesterfield North.
Together, the properties contribute more than 380 rooms to IHG’s UK and Ireland development pipeline, reinforcing the group’s position in both the premium and midscale segments. The expansion also underlines the continued momentum of IHG’s conversion brands, which have gained traction among owners seeking faster market entry and stable returns.
The voco London – Bloomsbury will add 114 rooms in a central location on Southampton Row, close to existing IHG hotels in the area. The Victorian building is set to be fully rebranded and reopen under the voco flag in mid-2026, while remaining operational during the transition. With this addition, voco continues its rapid growth following the brand’s global milestone of 100 open hotels reached in 2025.
At the midscale level, three new Garner hotels will further expand the brand’s UK network. The 91-room Garner Hotel Rotherham East opened in January 2025 near the M18, targeting both business and leisure demand in South Yorkshire. Garner Hotel Lincoln and Garner Hotel Chesterfield North, each also offering 91 rooms, are scheduled to open in February 2026, benefiting from strong road connectivity and mixed-use or employment-led catchments.
Willemijn Geels, Vice President, Development, Europe, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said: “We are thrilled to be adding four new properties to our portfolio with Fairview Hotels, expanding our partnership to six hotels and underscoring our shared commitment to growth in the UK.
The continued growth that we’re seeing across the market is a testament to the confidence our partners have in IHG’s brands, and it is exciting to see our newer voco and Garner brands resonating with owners and guests alike. We know our owners value faster routes to market and stronger returns on their investment; conversion opportunities like these, supported by IHG’s powerful enterprise platform, help deliver exactly that.”
Following these signings, IHG’s UK and Ireland portfolio now comprises more than 400 open and pipeline hotels, underlining the market’s strategic importance to the group and the growing role of voco and Garner in its European expansion.
