Honey granted planning for £53m development in Bessacarr, Doncaster
Housebuilder Honey will build 184 new homes in Bessacarr, Doncaster, after being granted planning permission for a £53m development.
Called Opal and located off Cammidge Way, adjacent to Bawtry Road, the 16-acre development will comprise a mix of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes, including terraces, semi-detached and detached properties.
Opal will feature 17 of Honey’s house type designs, with prices at the development starting from £234,995 for a two-bedroom semi-detached Avocado house type.
Sheffield-headquartered Honey says its house types have all been specifically designed to combine “style, substance and sustainability” for the benefit of buyers.
The Opal development will form part of the Doncaster Local Plan, which requires a total of 15,640 new homes to be built by 2035.
Work at Opal will commence next month, with the first homes also expected to be released for sale this spring. Honey anticipates that the first residents will move into their new homes in the autumn of this year.
Since being launched in October 2022, Honey has secured 29 sites across Yorkshire and the East Midlands that will deliver 4,370 homes and a combined gross development value of £1.3bn.
Honey chief executive officer, Mark Mitchell, said: “It’s fantastic to have received planning permission for Opal, enabling us provided buyers looking to move in or to Bessacarr with high-specification new homes.
“There has been strong levels interest from a range of buyers looking for homes which combine substance, style and sustainability since we first unveiled our plans for the site.
“We now look forward to starting work on site and launching the first homes for sale at this new community we are creating in Besscarr.”
